About Us

Fuel What Matters is a comprehensive education and awareness campaign designed to connect the citizens of North Carolina with transportation technologies and practices that help them save money, improve air quality, and enhance our local economy.

When people “Fuel What Matters,” they use clean transportation options as a reflection of who they are and what they care about. This campaign reflects the passions, interests, and lifestyles of all North Carolinians who participate and shows that clean transportation options can be customized to fit the individualized lifestyles of everyone across the state.

The Fuel What Matters campaign is administered by the NC Clean Energy Technology Center at NC State University and sponsored by the NC Department of Transportation. The public education effort is enhanced with billboard, radio, and television advertising supported through agreements with the NC Association of Broadcasters and the NC Outdoor Advertising Association.
