Clean Cities and Communities Coalitions Discuss Expansion in the Southeast

By: Alrik Lunsford, Piedmont and Coastal North Carolina Clean Communities Coalition Director

On Tuesday, January 27, 2026, Clean Cities and Communities coalitions from across the Southeastern region conducted a webinar about the rapid shift in the transportation landscape. The webinar discussed how becoming connected to the Clean Cities and Communities network and utilizing its technical expertise could help fleets meet their sustainability goals by identifying suitable fueling options that will help them achieve cost savings, reduce maintenance costs, and make communities healthier.

Alternative fueling options mentioned included compressed natural gas, biofuels, and electrification. The webinar also discussed how the Southeast Clean Cities Network Expansion is helping to build the capacity of existing coalitions, grow the capacity to serve new areas, develop resources to better serve stakeholders, and recruit stakeholders for new apprentice and designated coalitions in Mississippi and North Carolina.
